Alison & Matt are a wonderful pair and their Carmel Valley wedding day was a dream. We felt so fortunate to be part of their entire wedding-week celebration. It included a meet-up at Alvarado Street, a wine tasting at Albatross & a fun pool party rehearsal at their rented venue. They were so well-organized and all of their hard work and planning paid off. They have been together 8 years and belong to 6 wineries spanning from Napa to Paso Robles. During our time with them, we drank amazing wine and even got to try Austin Hope–One of the highest-rated wineries in California.
It was a real treat being able to capture the wedding at Chateau Carmel. Unfortunately, the house is no longer available as a private venue, as it has sold to a new owner. They have since told us that they will open it up for high-end events once in a while with supervision, but it’s difficult to know the house’s availability as it is going through renovation now. Regardless, it was still a stunning property and we made sure to capture it all.
The Big Day
Matt & Alison were supposed to get married the year before in New Jersey but their plans were put on hold because of the pandemic. This small wedding truly had it all, and their 60 or so guests had an absolute blast. The valley had perfect weather for the entire week; the norm on the central coast! Most of the guests flew in from the east coast, and they were treated to a mild climate that they don’t usually get to spend much time in. After a few days of everyone getting acquainted, we all met at the top of a long, windy driveway at Chateau Carmel. There were stunning views of the Carmel Valley and Santa Lucia mountains in every direction. There was even a little sliver of ocean visible to the west! Italian cypress trees lined up the driveway so it almost felt almost like looking out over Tuscany.
After the beautiful and moving mid-day ceremony, everyone was served a wonderful dinner and watched the sunset. A picturesque low fog crept in through the valley below as the sun dipped below the horizon. Everyone got to feel like they were up in the clouds, Matt and Allison especially. It was a Carmel Valley wedding done right!
A Photo Finish
The night was ended with delectable mini tomato soup & grilled cheeses, a s’mores cake and of course cigars. After all was said and done, SVP ended up delivering over 3,500 images from a very memorable week! We couldn’t have been more grateful for such a sweet couple to trust us with capturing one of the most important moments of their lives.
Thank you so much @docsauce & @alison_zlotkin for having us and getting to capture these moments 💕

This was the first time Seeking Venture Photo got to capture a multi-day celebration for a couple, and we realized that more people need to do it! Having your photographer there for your ‘wedding week’ is great for so many reasons. You of course get 𝗺𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝗮𝘄𝗲𝘀𝗼𝗺𝗲 𝗽𝗵𝗼𝘁𝗼𝘀, and the photographers you hire have more time to get to know you as a couple. Friends & family get used to us there as well, and as such, they aren’t camera shy the day-of. As an added bonus, you also feel more relaxed in front of the camera because now you’re just hanging out with a friend!
